We’re just wrapping up with a three week stay on the island of Kauai where Crystal and I ran a backpacking trip along the Na Pali Coast, hiked the same trail with a group of our friends and then we had a wedding. Yep – we’re married now! Thanks to Keven, Ann, John & Mike for hiking with us out along the Na Pali as well as Jane, Brian & Jack on the second trip. You can checkout Keven’s awesome blog post on our first trip here. He’s got a great video on there as well.
The wedding was fantastic and small at a beautiful little beach on the North Shore called Pu’u Poa. We had tiki torches, tropical flowers and the torrential tropical downpours stopped right on time for the ceremony! Thanks to the great friends who made the effort to join us on Kauai for this special day in our lives and a big thank you to the honorable reverend Taylor Branch of Arizona for officiating the wedding!
Kauai has always held a special place in my heart and it was a fitting location for our wedding. Crystal and I have run various trips together for the past three years and she will be helping me run Backcountry Journeys in both the background and the foreground. Most of the upcoming trips are either sold out or close to capacity and so it is essential to have a second guide / photo assistant along on the trips. I’m excited to say my wife will be joining me on many of those – namely the departures in Montana, Wyoming & Alaska this year. I’ll be posting pictures from the wedding once we get them back and processed from our photographer. Thanks everybody and Ahui Ho (until we meet again) from the island of Kauai. Next stop Alaska for Northern Lights and Bald Eagles!
