Nikon D6 Has a New Ship Date Following Delay

Nikon’s highly anticipated flagship sports/wildlife D6 DSLR will begin shipping to customers on May 21st.

Exciting news following a short delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. You might recall this camera being unveiled in February. BCJ’s Matt Meisenheimer wrote about the release at that time, discussing the big updates involved.

Back in February, when announced, the ship date was set for April, yet that timeframe was understandably pushed back due to an “inability to access requisite parts.”

This camera looks awesome, boasting the most powerful AF system in Nikon history with 105 densely packed cross-type focus points along with several other feature upgrades. At $6,497 it better be, right!?!?

Sample images, like the one above, released by Nikon are outstanding and are pretty tasty “bait” for those shooters interested in a superior AF system for fast-moving scenes found in sports photography, as well as for birds in flight and other spunkier wildlife.

We won’t rehash the new features of the D6 here, however, if you are interested in the ins-and-outs of this new camera body, click here to read Matt’s February post where he gets a bit more in-depth about the exciting new capabilities of this camera.
