Daily Hawktography Tours

Backcountry Journeys offers daily “Hawktography” tours in Flagstaff, Arizona. These three hours sessions focus solely on photographing high quality images of wild Red-Tailed Hawks in their native habitat.

Northern Arizona supports an unusually high population of Red-Tailed Hawks in it’s seemingly endless forests of Ponderosa Pine. Although the most common species of Hawk in North America, Red-Tailed Hawks are a striking photographic subject. Their distinct, sharp and colorful markings make them one of the most interesting raptor species to photograph.

Russ Nordstrand has been photographing Red-Tailed Hawks in Northern Arizona for many years and knows the best spots to find them in their natural habitat.

On our daily morning Hawk shoots we’ll travel to one of Russ’ most productive locations and spend about three hours photographing these amazing birds of prey. With a good telephoto lens & sturdy tripod you’ll come home with a portfolio of fantastic Hawk photographs. Join Backcountry Journeys in Flagstaff, Arizona for one of the most interesting photographic wildlife safaris – focusing solely on Red-tailed Hawks! Call today for reservations.
