Sony Shooters: Coming Soon from Tamron

More camera lens news as we move into June, and what is sure to be an interesting summer.

Sony shooters, listen up this one is for you! A fun new teaser video was recently released from Tamron, indicating a new full-frame Sony E-Mount lens, but not much more. The lineup already includes six full-frame Sony lenses.

Not much else was discussed, making it the perfect teaser in that Sony shooters who enjoy Tamron’s lineup of excellent glass have something to be excited about.

The video (below) does little to address any new details, but does go through all of the key features of its E-Mount series of lenses:

  • Lightweight and compact
  • Short minimum object distance with a relatively high magnification ratio
  • Unified 67mm filter thread across the full range
  • Designed to take full advantage of Sony’s full-frame mirrorless cameras

Whatever the lens release ends up being, it’ll likely follow true to the key features of the line. Lightweight and compact, short MOD, and a 67mm thread, among other traits. Whatever the case, the lens should be a quality addition to the E-Mount lineup.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any new details or the impending actual announcement. It is typical of Tamron to provide an official announcement soon after a teaser such as this one, so the wait may not be too long.

Until then, let the speculation fly! What could it be?
