Hawai’i born free spirit, Nicky has always felt most at ease near the ocean. Growing up she spent her summers exploring the incredible beaches and marine life of the Big Island with her family. The lush tropical landscape and rich culture inspired her to take up photography at an early age as a way of honoring and sharing the magic of the islands.
After getting her degree in Public Relations from Hawai’i Pacific University, Nicky moved to Northern California and fell in love with the Bay Area. Since then she’s worked as a travel writer, wilderness instructor, video producer, organic farmer, and meditation guide. Most days you can find her playing ukulele, chasing the sunset, or hiking near the coast. She hopes to bring her sense of wonder and love of photography to her role with BCJ to help others have unforgettable adventures in the wild.
