Sony: A ‘New Concept’ is Coming September 14

Published September 10, 2020
If you, or someone you know, are in the market for a new entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera, clear your calendar for September 14th as a big debut from Sony has been scheduled for 9 p.m. Eastern time.

Rumors of a new Sony full-frame mirrorless camera seemingly were spot-on. Sony has posted a teaser announcing a “new concept” in the alpha series of cameras.

It seems that Sony is looking to build anticipation, as not much is known about the release, and with only a teaser posted on YouTube that indicates only that a “new concept is coming,” followed by the Sony Alpha logo and the date and time.

According to Sony Alpha Rumors, the release should be the Sony a7C, and it will be the “entry-level” of a new and separate line of full-frame mirrorless cameras. Rumored price tag to be around $2,100.

Rumored Specs:
The same 24MP sensor as the Sony a7 III
The same fully-articulating screen as the Sony a7S III
The AF capabilities of the a7S III
Similar shape to the Sony a6600, but with an EVF in the corner
Built in IBIS
A single SD card slot
4K/30p video capability
