If you ask anyone here, we have the best team in the business and have created a true sense of community amongst both our employees and guests. Because of this, we’re growing rapidly, constantly adding new trips, welcoming first time guests, and expanding our world-class team of both guides and office staff.

As we embark on this journey of growth, it's this dedicated team that makes it all possible. Each member brings a unique set of skills, experiences, and a shared enthusiasm for creating exceptional experiences for our guests. Today, we are beyond excited to introduce our newest team member, Christina Ward, who joins us with a wealth of knowledge, a love for the outdoors, and a commitment to excellence.

Meet Christina: A Passionate Explorer and Industry Expert

Christina, a New York native, grew up exploring the scenic landscapes of the Adirondacks and the Catskill mountains during her childhood. She earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Outdoor Education from SUNY Oneonta, where her passion for the outdoors deepened. While at SUNY Oneonta, she dedicated her free time to activities like mountain biking, hiking, and trail crew work.

Upon completing her degree, Christina set her sights on the western United States. In 2013, she took the bold step of relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah, to work with a wilderness therapy company. Her awe-inspiring journey across the country marked the first time she laid eyes on the majestic western mountains, a sight that she will remember forever.

After spending seven years working in various roles within the wilderness therapy company, Christina decided to further her education. She pursued a Master's degree in Psychology, focusing on industrial organization. Her strong interest in organizational dynamics and business development led her to this path of overseeing logistics and customer service. Christina has dedicated a significant portion of her career to the mental health sector, where her primary focus has been helping others, and ensuring that the operational success of various companies were at the utmost quality.

Now, she is thrilled to bring her expertise in operations and logistics to the Backcountry Journeys team, combining her professional acumen with her love for the outdoors. Outside of work, Christina enjoys exploring the breathtaking mountains and deserts of the western states alongside her partner and two dogs. She's an avid reader, yoga enthusiast, and proud caretaker of an impressive collection of houseplants. Her favorite place on earth is Lake Powell, and loves to spend her time there wakeboarding and discovering new slot canyons.
