When in Alaska, stay longer.

Backcountry Journeys has a number of photo tour itineraries that take us to Alaska, which is a pretty darn far off place for most of us to reach. Exciting visits to see and photograph the Brown bears of Katmai National Park, as well as the Polar bears way up near the Beaufort Sea happily lure us north to the Last Frontier. Come to think of it, getting to Alaska is something that for many of us might happen just once in a lifetime.

So, if your travels should take you to Alaska for a photo opportunity with Backcountry Journeys, why not extend your time, and expand your adventures in the 49th State, by adding a workshop focused wholly on capturing the Northern Lights?

We’d like to remind everyone of our exciting Alaskan Northern Lights workshops that are scheduled to follow our autumn Brown Bears of Katmai, as well as our Polar Bears of the Alaskan Arctic photo tours making it seamless for folks booked on either of those tours to add Alaskan Northern Lights.

The below Alaskan Northern Lights dates can be booked in a number of different ways.

• Already booked on a Polar Bears of the Alaskan Arctic or Brown Bears of Katmai tour? Book a set of dates (or two) that immediately follow as an extension to your trip.
• Not booked on a Bears tour, and only really interested in Northern Lights? These dates are bookable as a stand-alone tour, or you could combine dates so as to spend more time photographing the Lights.

No matter which suits you best, you can be assured that taking part in any of these tours you’ll be put in the best position to find and photograph the Northern Lights. We’ll photograph the Northern Lights from in-and-around Fairbanks, which boasts the clearest night skies in Alaska. Fairbanks is also located directly underneath the Auroral Oval which makes it second to none as a destination for photographing the Northern Lights.
