Most meals included – (B,L,D) denotes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 1 (Travel Day) (D)
Arrive in Anchorage, Alaska in time for an orientation meeting and welcome dinner.
Day 2 (B,L,D)
We’ll get our trip started with a bang, shooting sunrise from an idyllic location overlooking an incredible Alaskan mountain scene. We’ll be moving on towards Seward, Alaska, and will explore, by boat, the icy waters of Resurrection Bay, where we should encounter an assortment of marine wildlife, seemingly all eager to have their pictures taken! We’ll lodge and dine in Seward with excellent access to views of Resurrection Bay and possible sightings of sea otters, harbor seals, bald eagles, and even whales.
Day 3 (B,L,D)
On Day 3, we'll spend the day photographing the incredible landscapes and scenery around Seward & Kenai Fjords National Park. Locations may include the Snow River, Bear Lake, the Resurrection River, Lowell Point, and more.
Day 4 (B,L,D)
We’ll be on the move again today, but not before photographing one of Kenai Fjords National Park’s major attractions: the nearly 8-mile-long Exit Glacier! We’ll progress down the Kenai Peninsula ending up at our new lodge in beautiful Homer, Alaska. Our evening photo spot will take advantage of a breathtaking view of the Kenai Mountains from across Kachemak Bay on the Homer Spit. We’ll dine and stay at the famous Land’s End at the very tip of the Homer Spit, a four-and-a-half mile-long piece of land jutting out into Kachemak Bay.
Day 5 (B,L,D)
A “layover day” in Homer will be anything but “lazy,” as we’ll be up and at it as the sun crests the horizon, casting the soft morning light upon Kachemak Bay and the surrounding mountain landscape. Today’s adventure will take us on an adventure of a lifetime! We’ll board real Alaskan bush planes for a flight across Cook Inlet for a day of bear viewing and photography on the Katmai Coast! Images from above as we fly are certainly possible, but the main attraction will be shortly after landing where we’ll look to get eye-level shots of bears as they play, eat, and spend their day.
Day 6 (B,L,D)
It's back to the icy waters as we take another marine boat tour, this time over to the small village of Seldovia. Here, we’ll be treated to gorgeous views of majestic mountains sitting over sparkling waters, long stretches of sandy shores, and plentiful and towering spruce forests reaching from the tree line to the water’s edge. The food in Seldovia is top-notch, so we’ll sit down for a Halibut lunch (or whatever you choose to order). Seldovia is the sort of place where time seems to have stood still for the past few decades, while locals just keep living their lives the only way they know-how. Marine wildlife will be on tap for us on this outstanding day!
Day 7 (B,L)
Our final morning together will begin with sunrise around the Homer area. Following breakfast, we’ll pack our things and head back to Anchorage.
Viewing brown bears along the Katmai Coast is an immersive wilderness experience that includes hiking in remote, bear-rich territory. Expect to traverse uneven, boggy terrain during hikes, which often include crossing streams. Waders are essential for navigating these conditions comfortably.
