Step aboard and join us this summer for the photography safari of a lifetime through the icy waters, forested coves, and stunning alpine scenery of Kenai Fjords National Park. A cornucopia of isolated wilderness, Kenai Fjords is a landscape teeming with wildlife – and due to its rugged terrain, it is largely accessible only by boat.
Our Alaska Kenai Fjords: Marine Wildlife Safari trip is based out of the quaint but lively historical fishing town of Seward, Alaska. Nestled deep in the mountains on Resurrection Bay, Seward features a lovely small boat harbor and serves as the perfect gateway to our adventure. During our stay, we'll enjoy the excellent Harbor 360 Hotel right on the harbor, offering opportunities to photograph puffins, otters, bald eagles, and harbor seals from the lodge itself.
Each day, we board our specially designated photography vessel and venture into the mysterious bays and coves of Kenai Fjords National Park. The wildlife photography in Kenai Fjords is unparalleled, and we have chosen the summer season to explore these waters for several reasons. It is the prime time for whale sightings, with common species such as humpback whales and orcas gracing us with their presence.
But the marine wildlife encounters don't end there. Seals, sea lions, sea otters, and a variety of seabirds, including bald eagles, horned puffins, and kittiwakes, create a vibrant tapestry of life. And it's not just marine wildlife—bears and mountain goats can often be spotted high on the cliffs or roaming the isolated beaches, adding to the excitement of our journey.
Our highly experienced, Coast-Guard certified crew has decades of experience exploring and photographing the deep waters and hidden corners of Kenai Fjords. Their expertise ensures we find the best locations and capture stunning Alaskan imagery. With privately chartered boats and small groups, each photographer has ample space to maneuver and capture unforgettable moments.
Kenai Fjords National Park, created in 1980, stretches over 1,000 square miles and features around 40 active glaciers. Get up close to these massive ice formations, witness calving glaciers, and be captivated by the cascading waterfalls and breathtaking landscapes that abound.
After our exhilarating adventures on the water, we return to the warm and well-appointed rooms in Seward, where we can relax and recount the day's experiences. Evenings in town are filled with excellent dining options, as Seward boasts some of the best restaurants in the entire North Country.
Don't miss the chance to join us this summer on one of the most unique and memorable wildlife safaris on the planet. Immerse yourself in the boat-based exploration of Kenai Fjords National Park, one of the world's last great wildernesses, and create lifelong memories in the heart of Alaska's natural wonders.
