Tucked along the wild coastline of the Alaska Peninsula, our time at Silver Salmon Creek Lodge places us in one of the most intimate and photographer-friendly bear environments on the planet. Unlike locations where wildlife viewing happens at a distance, here we work at eye level with coastal brown bears moving naturally through sedge meadows, tidal flats, and salmon-rich streams. In June especially, we photograph bears in luminous green grasses and reflective tidal pools, often with snow-capped volcanoes rising in the distance.
