Explore the beauty and wonder of New Mexico's Bosque Del Apache and White Sands National Park on this unforgettable photo workshop. This trip is timed perfectly to witness the migration of thousands of Snow Geese, Ross’s Geese, and Sandhill Cranes. These birds take refuge along the Middle Rio Grande to protect themselves from predators, making it the best time to see the greatest number of birds at the refuge. Get ready to witness one of nature's most magnificent spectacles as thousands of Snow Geese take off each morning at dawn in search of fields to feed in for the day. With the guidance and knowledge of your professional trip leader, you'll capture the stunning beauty of these birds in different lighting conditions and settings.
Bosque Del Apache, which translates to the "Forest of the Apache," is nestled between the Chupadera and San Pascual Mountains at the northern edge of the Chihuahuan Desert. Spanning over 50,000 acres of the Rio Grande River, its wetlands provide critical habitat, protection, and food for thousands of migrating waterfowl and wildlife. As you explore this stunning landscape, you'll be surrounded by an array of wildlife, including ducks, hawks, eagles, blackbirds, ravens, coots, and other birds. If you're lucky, you might even spot a few mammals, such as mule deer, coyotes, javelinas, and jackrabbits, up close and personal.
In addition to the breathtaking beauty of Bosque Del Apache, this workshop will also take you to the unearthly landscape of White Sands National Park. The park's shimmering white sands fill the Tularosa Basin, creating an incredible white desert landscape against the deep blue desert sky. Here, you'll be able to capture the world's largest gypsum dunefield, with great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand that stretch across 275 square miles of desert. The constantly shifting sands create endless patterns, and the desert light plays across the soft dunes under the rising sun of the Chihuahuan desert. With the guidance of your trip leader, you'll capture great images that will stay with you for a lifetime.
