Death Valley National Park
Death Valley, the largest national park in the contiguous United States, is renowned for its extremes and is a top landscape photography destination. Known as the hottest place on Earth, it holds the record for the highest temperature ever recorded at Furnace Creek. It is also North America's driest place and home to its lowest point, Badwater Basin, at 282 feet below sea level.
Our photography excursion captures the essence of this extraordinary landscape, from towering sand dunes to unique salt basins and groves of Joshua trees. Iconic locations like Badwater Basin, Mesquite Sand Dunes, Artist's Palette, and Zabriskie Point, as well as hidden gems discovered by our guides, provide endless opportunities for photographers. You'll capture stunning vistas from mountain overlooks, vast playas with mud cracks, and other breathtaking landscapes.
Alabama Hills
The Alabama Hills offer stunning geological formations, including unique granite boulders, arches, and spires set against the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Key locations may include Mobius Arch, Boot Arch, Lone Pine Peak, and the tallest peak in the lower 48, Mount Whitney.
This area’s rugged terrain has been a popular filming location since the early 20th century, featuring in classics like Gunga Din and How the West Was Won, and modern hits like Gladiator, Star Trek Generations, Iron Man, and Django Unchained. The region also has a rich natural history, with evidence of Native American habitation dating back thousands of years. The area played a significant role in the California Gold Rush, attracting miners in search of fortune.
The unique geology of the Alabama Hills, characterized by rounded rocks and unique formations, offers endless opportunities for landscape photography. The interplay of light and shadow on the boulders, combined with the ever-changing sky and the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains, provides a dynamic and captivating environment for photographers.
In addition to its landscapes, Alabama Hills is home to diverse wildlife, including desert bighorn sheep, Townsend's big-eared bats, coyotes, jackrabbits, red-tailed hawks, white-tailed antelope squirrels, and chuckwallas. The flora includes various sagebrush and cactus species, adding to the desert's intricate beauty.
