Charming Springdale, Utah - the gateway to Zion National Park, filled with small shops and great food
Discover the heart of canyon country through your lens on this photographic excursion into Zion National Park. We’ll explore the delicate and colorful slot canyons.
The timing of this excursion will coincide with the brilliant Autumn foliage change within Zion Canyon in the Fall.
Our guides have been hiking & photographing in Southern Utah for well over a decade and we have designed this itinerary to arrive at just the right moment for ideal lighting conditions and photographic opportunities.
This landscape photography oriented expedition will put you and your lens in front of some of the most iconic and spectacular rock formations that Southern Utah has to offer. We’ll photograph the mouth of the Zion Narrows (and hike it), Photograph Angel’s Landing and squeeze through the most dramatic slot canyons in Utah.
After long days in the field, we’ll retreat to our comfortable lodges near Zion Canyon.

October 14th (B,D)
This is the final morning of your Solar Eclipse trip. Totality will happen at 10:30 am local time, and the last sliver of moon will move out of the sun's way at 12 pm local time. We will shoot for the entirety of the eclipse.
After witnessing one of the most magical phenomena, we'll get lunch, and then our guide will drop you off in Springdale on the group’s way back to St. George.
You will have a few hours on your own to explore the town. Springdale, Utah is beautiful in the fall. It's an artsy, National Park town, walkable with lots of great shops & restaurants for mid-day when the light is poor for photography.
Your guide will then return that evening for dinner and to go shoot. There will also be Astro opportunities if you are interested.
October 15th (B,LD)
Hiking Mileage: ~2-4 miles
We’ll wade through the chilly waters of the Virgin River and spend the afternoon photographing the immense slot canyon system of the infamous Zion Narrows (we will arrange for rental gear for the Narrows, you'll be in the water for the majority of the hike!). This is one of the best photography destinations in the US. Fall is a great time for the Narrows, as water is generally lower and fall color lights up the canyon. Light is best in the morning so we will make the most of the morning window before returning to the Canyon to shoot sunset. For sunset, we'll venture along the Pa'Rus Trail or The Watchman Trail for great images of Zion's iconic Watchman.
October 16th (B,L,D)
Hiking Mileage: ~2-4 miles
This morning we will set out to do some short hikes to places like Emerald Pools and Court of the Patriarchs. We'll visit some roadside spots in the Canyon as well. There's no shortage of beautiful spots. In the afternoon, we'll assess the light and either photograph Angel's Landing from the shore of the Virgin River or venture up to the east side of the park by Checkerboard Mesa. Another option is the secluded, yet magnificent Kolob Canyon section of the park.
October 17th (B)
Hiking Mileage: ~1-2 miles
On our final morning of shooting we will shoot sunrise from Canyon Overlook. The overlook features a great view of the Towers of the Virgin as they get hit with the morning first light. Afterwards, we'll enjoy a final breakfast in Springdale andreturn to Saint George for flights home.
