Join us for a winter adventure into the desert southwest of the United States. Winter is one of the best seasons for photography in the southwest and our tour covers the top locations in the area, from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon to the secret treasures of Grand Staircase-Escalante and more. Many of our esteemed guides take an annual winter trip to the Colorado Plateau because of its incredible geology, which yields highly productive trips.
This extraordinary journey marries the iconic allure of the Grand Canyon's snow-blanketed vistas (if we're lucky!) with the intimate allure of hidden treasures scattered around the Colorado Plateau. Our departures are scheduled during the historic peak of snowfall at the Grand Canyon.
Grand Canyon's Snow-Kissed Majesty:
Our trip commences at the iconic South Rim of the Grand Canyon, where we can witness the astounding transformation of this geological wonder into a winter wonderland. Over the course of three remarkable days and two cozy nights, we'll explore the many vistas and overlooks of the Grand Canyon in the soft winter light. If we're lucky, we'll witness and capture a winter snowfall, and if not, the winter light at the Grand Canyon can be some of the best!
Grand Staircase-Escalante & Toadstools:
Venturing into the heart of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, we'll uncover the Toadstools, badlands, and hidden gems with whimsical rock formations that appear almost otherworldly. The geology of this region is diverse, and mesmerizing. With the guidance of a pro photographer, you'll refine your ability to frame these natural wonders in a dynamic way.
Journey through eons: The Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is a living testament to the dynamic history of the Colorado Plateau. From ancient seas to towering cliffs, every layer holds a piece of Earth's story. Today, the remnants make for incredible photography. Unique hoodoos rise up from the dirt, tall buttes dot the landscape, and mineral deposits color the hillsides in fiery hues. This area can be one of the best in all of the US for winter photography.
Slot Canyon Splendor:
What trip to the southwest would be complete without a photo stop at a slot canyon? We'll take a private trip into one of our favorite slots on Navajo land with a local guide. This hidden jewel off the beaten path promises an intimate setting to fine-tune your craft and capture the intricate details that only a select few get to witness. We'll be the only ones in the canyon so you can focus on capturing the scattering light off the colorful Navajo sandstone walls.
If you've never photographed a slot canyon before, it can be addicting, much like the night sky. Long exposures in slot canyons reveal deep hues of purple and red, colors your eye doesn't pick up, the results are amazing!
Horseshoe Bend & Beyond:
As the journey unfolds, we'll stand at the rim of Horseshoe Bend, capturing the iconic curvature of the Colorado River encircled by snow-touched cliffs. One of the most jaw-dropping spots along the Colorado River. Throughout the tour, we'll also venture into lesser-known corners of the region that awaken during this tranquil and picturesque season.
Uncover the Secrets of Winter:
Join us on an exclusive photo workshop and tour that reveals the hidden narratives of the Southwest's captivating winter landscapes.
