Montenegro is a hidden gem in the Balkans, offering a wealth of natural beauty, rich history, and unique experiences. Join Backcountry Journeys as we lead you through the alluring landscapes of one of our newest destinations!
Montenegro boasts 295 km (183 mi) of stunning Adriatic coastline, featuring picturesque beaches, charming coastal towns, and beautiful bays, including the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor. Often compared to a fjord, the Bay of Kotor is one of the most beautiful natural harbors in Europe. The surrounding medieval towns of Kotor and Perast are perfect for exploring and photographing, and they'll provide plenty of subject matter to practice both landscape and tight framing techniques.
Despite its small size, Montenegro has incredibly diverse landscapes, from rugged mountains and deep canyons to serene lakes and lush forests. The country is home to five national parks, each offering unique natural beauty. Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, features the Tara River Canyon, the deepest canyon in Europe, and the stunning Black Lake. It's a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Biogradska Gora is one of the last three primeval forests in Europe. Biogradska Gora National Park is a pristine natural area with centuries-old trees, a beautiful lake, and rich biodiversity. Montenegro's history is also reflected in its well-preserved medieval towns, ancient monasteries, and Venetian fortresses. The Old Town of Kotor, with its narrow streets and historic buildings, is a must-visit. Montenegro also offers some of the most scenic drives in Europe. The route from Kotor to Cetinje via the Lovćen serpentine road offers breathtaking views of the Bay of Kotor and the Adriatic Sea.
From the stunning Adriatic coastline to the dramatic landscapes of Durmitor National Park, this trip promises unrivaled opportunities to refine your portfolio and to take home a wealth of new photography techniques. Our carefully curated itinerary ensures that you will experience the best of Montenegro's natural and cultural treasures, all while receiving personalized guidance from professional photographers in an all-inclusive and collaborative setting. Don't miss this chance to explore and photograph one of Europe's hidden gems with Backcountry Journeys!
