The Czech Republic is a land of enchanting landscapes, rich history, and architectural marvels. This carefully curated trip offers a perfect balance of iconic landmarks and hidden treasures, promising a truly immersive and memorable travel experience.

Discover the enchanting blend of medieval charm and modern vibrancy as you explore Prague's historic streets, and discover why this city is nicknamed “The City of a Hundred Spires.” Next, we'll explore Karlštejn Castle, surrounded by beautiful forests. This 14th-century castle, built by Emperor Charles IV, provides dramatic views, rich interiors, and will be a dream to shoot whether you’re focusing on wide landscapes or close details.

Our trip will also take us to Kutná Hora where St. Barbara’s Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the unique Sedlec Ossuary await us in this town full of history and charm. The small Sedlec chapel is decorated with chandeliers made from human bones and creates both a fascinating and eerie subject for your photography. Beyond Kutná, our journey continues to Telč: a region full of well-preserved Renaissance architecture. The colorful town square, reflected in ponds, creates perfect compositions for your photos, and our photo guides will help you capture the essence of this town's Czech heritage with its charming streets and historic buildings.

Our tour then heads to the Moravian wine region, where rolling vineyards offer beautiful landscapes. The lush rows of vines and historic wine cellars, especially in the late afternoon light, are perfect for landscape photography. We'll end our travels in Mikulov, a town rich in history and natural beauty. With its castle, historic center, and surrounding hills, Mikulov offers panoramic views and diverse subjects for us to capture with our lenses.

 Trip Itinerary

Most meals included – (B,L,D) denotes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 1 (D)
Our Czechia photography adventure begins in the heart of Prague, a city renowned for its stunning architecture and vibrant history. The first day is a gentle immersion into the city's charm. As the afternoon sun dips, we'll embark on our initial photography session. Capture the golden hues of sunset over the Vltava River, framing the iconic Charles Bridge and the Prague Castle in the backdrop. The evening offers a chance to explore and photograph Prague's illuminated streets and squares, showcasing a blend of Gothic and Baroque architecture.

Day 2 (B, L, D)
Greet the day with a sunrise session in Prague. The early morning light bathes the city's cobblestone streets and historic buildings in a soft, ethereal glow, perfect for photography. We spend the day wandering through Prague's myriad of alleys and squares, each offering unique photographic opportunities. From the Astronomical Clock to the quaint corners of the Lesser Town, our cameras will be busy. As dusk approaches, we find a spot for our sunset session. Perhaps aim our lenses towards the Prague skyline, capturing the play of light and shadow on the city's spires and rooftops.

Day 3 (B, L, D)
Another sunrise session in Prague ensures we capture the city's beauty in the glorious morning light. Mid-day, we'll venture to Karlštejn Castle, a mere 45-minute journey. This 14th-century fortress, set against rolling hills and dense forests, presents a stark contrast to Prague's urban landscape. The castle's Gothic architecture and the surrounding natural scenery provide a splendid backdrop for our sunset photography session, capturing the castle's imposing structure.

Day 4 (B, L, D)
After a final sunrise shoot in Prague, we'll travel to the historic town of Kutná Hora. The journey of about an hour and fifteen minutes introduces us to the Bohemian countryside. Kutná Hora, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its Gothic St. Barbara's Church and the eerie Sedlec Ossuary, decorated with human bones. Our photography session here captures the town's unique blend of architectural beauty and historical intrigue, particularly during the enchanting sunset and twilight hours.

Day 5 (B, L, D)
The day starts with a sunrise session in Kutná Hora, allowing us to capture the town in the soft morning light. A drive of approximately an hour and forty-five minutes takes us to the quaint town of Telč. Known for its Renaissance and Baroque buildings, Telč's town square, surrounded by colorful facades and arcades, is a photographer's delight. The evening light provides a magical setting for our sunset and post-sunset photography, highlighting the town's architectural beauty and serene atmosphere.

Day 6 (B, L, D)
Capture Telč in the early morning light before setting off for the South Moravia region. The two-hour and fifteen-minute journey brings us closer to the rolling hills and vineyards of Moravia. A possible stop in Brno adds an urban touch to the rural scenery. Once in South Moravia, the focus shifts to the region's picturesque fields and vineyards, perfect for our sunset photography session, capturing the tranquil and bucolic essence of this region.

Day 7 (B, L, D)
The day begins in the fields of South Moravia, a photographer's haven at sunrise. The soft morning light accentuates the gentle contours of the landscape. Later, a visit to Mikulov adds variety to our photographic portfolio. This historic town, nestled amidst the Moravian vineyards, offers a blend of cultural and architectural sights. Our day concludes with another sunset session amidst the idyllic landscapes of South Moravia, capturing the region's natural beauty as the day fades.

Day 8 (B, L)
Our final day starts with a sunrise session amidst the picturesque fields of South Moravia, a fitting end to our photographic journey. After capturing the early light, we'll prepare for our return to Prague, a three-hour drive, bringing our Czechia photography tour to a close. The memories and photographs we've gathered along the way will be a testament to the diverse and captivating beauty of Czechia.

Please note that the exact sequence of the itineraries on all photography trips will be based on weather and lighting conditions. The goal on these trips is to make sure we are at the right place at the right time for the perfect light on our subjects. Also, itineraries can change for a variety of other circumstances including floods, forest fires, national park closures, road closures, and more. Due to the nature of wildlife and landscape photography, we do not guarantee any specific sightings or specific compositions.

Testimonials From Our Customers
Julie K.
"I have traveled with Backcountry Journeys (BCJ) several times over the last 4 years to Glacier NP, Costa Rica (2x), Smoky Mountains NP, Joshua Tree, Zion and Bryce NPs, and most recently to Alaska.

Every trip with BCJ has been an outstanding experience. The guides are professional photographers who put the experience of the guests first. They are willing to provide as much hands on help as you need/want. The guides are also extremely knowledgeable and well trained in wilderness safety as well as the areas they guide.

BCJ trips are well run from the time of reservation through the entire trip. They will take you to great places and find great photographic opportunities."

"BCJ provides an outstanding experience for photographers of all levels of experience/expertise. Each day's excursion is well planned-out and the guides always have a back-up plan if the weather is less than cooperative.

I have now been on 5 trips and each one seems better than the last. I find the guides to be very helpful and personable. The guides provide the level of hands-on assistance each participant wants.

The accommodations are always good, taking into consideration what each particular destination has to offer. I plan to continue doing these trips with BCJ and can't recommend them highly enough."

"I have now been on 8 trips with Backcountry Journeys. I love traveling with this company, as I am a woman traveling alone, and all I have to do is show up and they take care of everything else.

They have wonderful, caring, helpful, FUN, and knowledgeable guides who make the days fly by. They get us to the best photography sites possible and are always willing to help with anything and answer all questions.

We stay in great places and there is always too much wonderful food! I have met other travelers on their trips who will be friends for life, plus the guides are more than guides--they become friends too. I know I will be doing more traveling with them in the future."
