Málaga
Our adventure begins in the lively city of Málaga, the gateway to Andalucía. We’ll travel through scenic countryside to Granada, immersing ourselves in its charming streets, vibrant tapas bars, and rich cultural scene. Photograph the world-famous Alhambra, a Moorish palace and fortress offering incredible opportunities for both wide-angle and detailed shots. We'll capturing panoramic views of the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada mountains bathed in golden light.
Seville
Next, we journey to Seville, the capital of Andalucía, a city that seamlessly blends history with modernity. Known for its flamenco dancing, Moorish-influenced architecture, and vibrant festivals, Seville is a photographer's dream. Enjoy a sunrise photo session at Plaza de España, and explore Seville’s historic sites, including the Alcázar, Seville Cathedral, and the lively Triana neighborhood. Conclude your day with a sunset photo workshop at Torre del Oro and Puente de San Telmo, capturing the beauty of the Guadalquivir River and Seville’s iconic landmarks.
Córdoba
Our journey continues to Córdoba, located in the heart of Andalucía. The city’s most iconic landmark is the Mezquita-Catedral, a stunning mosque-cathedral that blends Islamic and Christian architectural elements. Córdoba's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, features charming narrow streets, whitewashed houses, and picturesque patios adorned with vibrant flowers. Explore the Roman bridge and the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos.
Soria and Almazán
We then travel to Soria and Almazán, where we’ll enjoy traditional Spanish life and position ourselves in the path of totality for the eclipse. Almazán, full of historic charm and natural beauty, offers peaceful, scenic landscapes. Witness and capture the eclipse just before golden hour, adding a truly unique event to your portfolio.
Madrid
Our final stop is Madrid, Spain’s capital city. Explore the Prado Museum, home to masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, and El Greco, and visit the stunning Royal Palace. Day 1: Arrival in Málaga (D)
Today we arrive in the vibrant city of Málaga, a gateway to Andalusia's rich history and culture. We’ll meet at dinner for an orientation about the trip’s itinerary and techniques for shooting the eclipse later in the week!
Day 2: Málaga to Granada (B, L, D)
We’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departing for Granada this morning. A scenic drive through the Andalusian countryside will bring us to this historic city. Upon arrival, we’ll explore Granada's charming streets, tapas bars, and the vibrant cultural scene.
Day 3: Exploring Granada (B, L, D)
The open itinerary on this day allows us to explore Granada at our own pace. Consider visiting the Alhambra, a stunning Moorish palace and fortress that will inspire your lens with both wide angles and detailed shots. We’ll meet for a sunset photo workshop at Mirador de San Nicolás, a famous viewpoint offering panoramic views of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Our guides will help you experiment with landscape photography techniques and then we can capture the sunset over the Alhambra as it’s bathed in golden light.
Day 4: Granada to Seville (B, L, D)
Our day will start early as we head to Mirador de San Miguel Alto for a special sunrise shoot. We’ll witness the first light of the day illuminating Granada’s rooftops and the Alhambra. After our workshop at this jaw-dropping vantage point, we’ll depart for Seville, the capital of Spain's Andalucía region and a city that seamlessly blends history with modernity. Seville is known for its flamenco dancing, Moorish-influenced architecture, vibrant festivals, and is the setting for Bizet's opera Carmen.
Day 5: Discovering Seville (B, L, D)
We’ll begin our morning with another early sunrise shoot at Plaza de España, a stunning architectural marvel with intricate tile work and a picturesque setting. Capturing this landmark in the soft glow of morning light is a highlight for anyone traveling to this region of Spain. The rest of the day will be spent exploring Seville’s historic sites, including the Alcázar, Seville Cathedral, and the lively Triana neighborhood. Our group will meet again in the evening for a sunset photo workshop at Torre del Oro and Puente de San Telmo. Our lenses will be focused on the sunset along the Guadalquivir River with views of Seville’s iconic landmarks in the distance.
Day 6: Seville to Córdoba (B, L, D)
This morning we’ll depart for Córdoba after breakfast. After we arrive in Córdoba, we’ll explore the city's historic center, including the Mezquita, a stunning mosque-cathedral. Our evening photo workshop will be at the Puente Romano de Córdoba, a scenic area overlooking the Roman bridge and historic city with reflections in the Guadalquivir River.
Day 7: Córdoba to Madrid to Soria (B, L, D)
In anticipation of tomorrow’s eclipse, we’ll travel closer to the path of totality from Córdoba to Madrid. We’ll enjoy lunch in Madrid and then we can explore some of the city’s highlights, such as the Royal Palace or Plaza Mayor. In the afternoon, we’ll continue our journey to Soria, where we’ll stay for two nights and experience the solar eclipse in totality!
Day 8: Eclipse Day in Soria/Almazán (B, L, D)
The itinerary will be open-ended most of this day so we can prepare for the eclipse in the evening. We can explore Soria and its surroundings, or we can rest and take some leisure time to review all the impressive photos we’ve taken. The eclipse will occur during golden hour, so this will truly be a unique experience you need to see to believe!
Day 9: Soria to Madrid (B, L, D)
On our last day, we’ll depart from Soria and travel back to Madrid. The rest of the day will be at your own pace and you can explore as much of the city as you’d like. Our photo guide can also help you with photo processing if you’d like to start digging into all your photos!
Day 10: Departure Day (B)
Bid farewell to your companions and transfer to the airport for your flight home. Though the trip ends here, the unforgettable images and experiences you’ve collected will continue to inspire your photography for years to come.
This is a Level 2 trip. We will be walking on cobblestoned streets in historic city centers in addition to taking photographs from roads and trails near our vans. We might hike through fields or take unpaved trails to get optimal vantage points for the eclipse. Total mileage can vary, but expect to walk up to 6 miles per day.
