Day 1 (D)
Arrive in Iceland and check into your hotel in Reykjavík. There will be a group orientation and dinner.
Days 2 - 5 (B,L,D)
We will travel to the northern section of Fjallabak Nature Reserve in the Highlands. This area boasts breathtaking sights, including waterfalls, glacier rivers, and crater lakes. One such lake, known as "Ugly Puddle", may have an unattractive name, but is a magnificent and beautiful sight. The blue lake, Hnausapollur or Bláhylur, is another breathtaking location, formed from an explosive eruption about 1,100 years ago.
During our time in Fjallabak, we will have the opportunity to photograph various landscapes, including Hjalparfoss and Haifoss waterfalls, Langisjor, Ljótipollur, Landmannalaugar, Hnausapollur, glacial rivers, lakes, craters, and much more.
Get ready to capture all the beauty that the Fjallabak Nature Reserve has to offer - one of our personal favorite locations in Iceland.
Days 5 - 7 (B,L,D)
We'll move lodging location to put us in a position to spend additional time in the southern portion of Fjallabak Nature Reserve. Expect braided rivers, volcanic plains with green, mossy mountains, waterfalls, and a few of our favorite mountains in the Highlands.
One of the highlights of this area will be Maelifell mountain and the neighboring Hólmsá region, which is our favorite for drone photography. We will also visit lesser-known waterfalls, craters, and meandering rivers.
Day 8 (B,L)
On our final morning, we'll spend some time in Fjallabak and the Highlands once again, the location list is truly endless! Our location on Day 8 is also fantastic for the classic Icelandic aerial shots of braided rivers. We'll start our journey back to Reykjavik in the afternoon and conclude our trip with hotel drop-offs. We'll arrive after most scheduled return flights to the US so we've booked a hotel room this evening for the group.
Day 9 (B)
Transfer from the hotel in Reykjavík to Keflavik International Airport (KEF). Flights can be booked for any time today.
