Diverse Coastal Access: Stay along the scenic California coast with access to rugged beaches, sea stacks, and dramatic shoreline scenes—ideal for sunset shoots and seascape variety.
Hands-On Learning Experience: Participate in field sessions and image reviews focused on landscape, nature, and macro photography, all guided by expert instructors in one of the most photogenic regions in the U.S.
This all-inclusive photography workshop and tour will take place in the heart of northern California's Redwood forest, known for its towering ancient trees and breathtaking natural beauty. There will be both field photography sessions and image review, with a focus on techniques for landscape, nature, and macro photography.
The Redwoods offer some of the most productive forest landscapes in the United States. The reasons are simple - fog and light. The coastal habitat of the Redwoods consistently produces morning fog, and when combined with sunrise light rays, the result is spectacular.
This workshop also coincides with historical wildflower blooms. In certain areas of the Redwoods, the forests come alive with rhododendron blooms in early and late spring. In addition, superblooms of lupine can be found in higher elevation oak savannahs during some years.
Because the Redwoods prefer coastal habitats, we'll be staying right on the California coast for close proximity to the best locations. This gives us access to many rugged, sea-stack lined beaches along the California and Oregon Coast as well. The focus is Redwoods, but we have the option of shooting coastal scenes at sunset if conditions permit - diverse options are good!
This is an excellent opportunity for photography enthusiasts of all levels to learn new techniques, improve their skills, and capture the beauty of some of the largest trees on Earth.
