The Ecuador: Birds of Paradise trip offers an extraordinary opportunity to observe stunning avian species, but it does come with important elevation considerations. The journey starts and ends in Quito, at an altitude of 9,350 feet, with most of the trip taking place around 4,000 feet. Guests may feel the effects of the thinner air, such as shortness of breath and fatigue.
To help mitigate these effects, it’s crucial to stay well-hydrated before and during the trip. Drinking plenty of water helps your body adjust to higher altitudes and can reduce the risk of altitude sickness. It’s also important to pace yourself and take breaks during hikes to allow your body to acclimate. If you have any concerns about altitude or health, please consult your healthcare provider before the trip to ensure you’re fully prepared.
