San Rafael Glacier: Photograph a massive calving glacier up close on a boat excursion through icy lagoons and fjords.
Marble Caves of Lake General Carrera: Explore and shoot the swirling stone formations reflected in turquoise waters.

Join us on a once-in-a-lifetime photographic journey through Northern Patagonia, timed perfectly to witness the annular solar eclipse of February 6, 2027. This remarkable adventure blends the drama of celestial events with the wild beauty of Southern Chile, creating endless opportunities for both landscape and wildlife photography. Over 12 days, we’ll explore the islands, fjords, glaciers, and mountains of Patagonia, capturing the region’s raw grandeur while experiencing its vibrant culture and natural wonders.
Our expedition begins on Chiloé Island, a place steeped in folklore and known for its UNESCO-listed wooden churches, colorful stilt houses, and rich fishing traditions. The island’s moody skies, windswept coasts, and bustling harbors provide a wealth of photographic subjects. From local markets to sweeping views of the Pacific, Chiloé sets the perfect tone for this journey.
The highlight comes early: on February 6th, we’ll photograph the annular eclipse from the rugged shores of Tepuhueico Park. With the ocean as our backdrop, the “ring of fire” eclipse promises to be a rare and spectacular event for both seasoned and beginner photographers. Capturing this alignment of sun and moon over such a dramatic coastal landscape will be an unforgettable experience.
From Chiloé, we travel deeper into Patagonia, beginning with Pumalín National Park, one of Chile’s most celebrated conservation areas established by Douglas Tompkins. Here, ancient temperate rainforests, volcanoes, and waterfalls create an otherworldly scene that feels far removed from modern life. With towering alerce trees and pristine rivers, it’s a paradise for nature photographers.
Continuing south, we’ll base ourselves in Puerto Chacabuco, where a full-day boat excursion brings us face-to-face with the San Rafael Glacier. This massive wall of ice, glowing blue under the Patagonian sky, calves dramatically into the lagoon, creating breathtaking moments for both wide landscapes and intimate detail shots.
The journey then takes us to Lake General Carrera and the small town of Puerto Río Tranquilo. Here, we’ll photograph the Marble Caves, an iconic Patagonian wonder sculpted by thousands of years of water erosion. The swirling patterns of stone, reflecting turquoise waters, offer truly unique compositions. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Exploradores Valley, with its dramatic mountain views and glacial rivers.
In Cerro Castillo National Park, jagged peaks and alpine scenery rival the landscapes of Torres del Paine but with far fewer visitors. Here, the play of light on rugged summits provides endless opportunities for dramatic images. Finally, our trip concludes in Coyhaique, where we’ll spend time at Estancia Punta del Monte photographing condors, Patagonia’s iconic raptors, soaring effortlessly above sweeping valleys.
This expedition combines a rare astronomical event with some of South America’s most spectacular landscapes, designed specifically for photographers who want to tell the story of Patagonia through their lenses. From the cultural heartbeat of Chiloé to the glaciers, caves, and peaks of the Aysén region, every day offers new inspiration and unforgettable moments.
