Experience the beauty of Yosemite National Park in a whole new light during the winter season. As snow blankets the vast landscape, Yosemite transforms into a winter wonderland, offering an incredible opportunity for photographers. This is your chance to capture the iconic park in its least visited and most serene season, where every frame becomes a work of art.

Yosemite, a natural wonder renowned worldwide, unveils its hidden treasures during winter. The pristine snow creates a breathtaking contrast against the towering granite cliffs, majestic waterfalls, and towering sequoia trees. The soft, diffused light of winter paints the landscape with a unique palette, enhancing the vibrant colors and creating a dreamlike atmosphere. It's an ideal time to hone your landscape photography skills and capture the ethereal beauty of this iconic destination.

Our workshop is also timed during the 'Firefall' event, where Horsetail Falls gets struck by the last light of sunset, lighting it up in a fiery orange hue.

Led by experienced photography instructors, this workshop offers a carefully curated itinerary designed to maximize your photographic opportunities. From the crack of dawn to the golden hour of sunset, you'll venture to carefully selected locations, including renowned landmarks like Half Dome, El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls, Valley View, and Tunnel View. But it doesn't end there—our guides will also take you off the beaten path to discover lesser-known spots where you can capture Yosemite's hidden gems.

Throughout the workshop, you'll have ample one-on-one time with your instructor, receiving personalized guidance and tips to elevate your photography skills. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced photographer, this trip provides an immersive learning experience in a breathtaking setting. Your instructor will help you master composition, lighting, and techniques specific to winter photography, ensuring you capture the essence and grandeur of Yosemite.

Nestled in the heart of the park, our cozy lodge serves as your home base during the workshop. After a day of capturing stunning images, you'll have the opportunity to relax and recharge in comfortable accommodations. The lodge provides the perfect retreat, allowing you to reflect on your day's adventures and share stories with fellow photographers.

Beyond the technical and artistic aspects, this workshop offers an opportunity to connect with nature on a deeper level. Yosemite's tranquility during winter allows you to experience a sense of solitude and awe-inspiring beauty that few have witnessed. As you explore the snowy trails and witness the silent majesty of Yosemite's wilderness, you'll feel a profound connection to the natural world.

Join us on this extraordinary journey to Yosemite National Park in winter, and let the landscape ignite your creativity and leave you with unforgettable memories. Expand your portfolio with breathtaking images and immerse yourself in the unparalleled beauty of one of the world's most iconic destinations.

Most meals included – (B,L,D) denotes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 1 (Travel Day)(D)

We will meet at our lodge in Fresno, California the first evening of the trip for an orientation and welcome dinner.

Day 2 (B,L,D)

This morning we will arise early and head up into Yosemite Valley. We’ll spend the morning exploring Yosemite Valley. After lunch we’ll check-in to our lodge and get settled for the next few days. This evening’s photo shoot will be at a spectacular location overlooking the entire valley.

Day 3 (B,D)

Our morning shoot will take us to a quaint beach along the Merced River where wintry reflections of El Capitan will be our photographic goal. There are many fantastic compositions to be had along the idyllic mountain river – especially when the crowds are gone, and winter is in full-swing. Magical. After our morning shoot we’ll head in for lunch and photo reviews followed by a short break. This evening we will shoot from another stunning location in the valley with expansive views of the sun setting on Half Dome as its glow is reflected in the river. After a great shoot we’ll head in and grab an excellent dinner at our lodge!

Day 4 (B,D)

After breakfast we’ll head up to Lower Yosemite Falls and take advantage of the beautiful mid-morning light on this famous waterfall. Later we’ll also head over and photograph another important Yosemite cascade – Bridal Veil Falls. We’ll spend the rest of today in search of wildlife and take a midday break from shooting to go over our images. This evening we’ll head to a beautiful snowy meadow and photograph Yosemite in the warm-glow of a winter sunset.

Day 5 (B,L,D)

Our morning shoot today is an inspirational view of Upper Yosemite Falls from the shores of the Merced River. The morning light catches this scene beautifully just after sunrise. We’ll work on different compositions and take some short walks around the valley. This evening we'll have one grand finale landscape composition of Yosemite before an excellent farewell dinner!

Day 6 (B)

This morning we will have one more photo session in Yosemite Valley. After coming in from the session, we’ll warm up over a hot breakfast and check out of our lodge. It is about a two-hour drive back to Fresno and we’ll drop you off right at the airport if you want.
Please note that the exact sequence of the itineraries on all photography trips will be based on weather and lighting conditions. The goal on these trips is to make sure we are at the right place at the right time for the perfect light on our subjects. Also, itineraries can change for a variety of other circumstances including floods, forest fires, national park closures, road closures, and more. Due to the nature of wildlife and landscape photography, we do not guarantee any specific sightings or specific compositions.
