The Job: This combined position is responsible for managing our customer health information, as well as enhancing our guest experience. You are the face of Backcountry Journeys tomany. As a Health & Guest Support Specialist, you will support trip readiness by reviewing guest health questionnaires and disclosures, communicating physical requirements and expectations, and helping ensure alignment between guest capabilities and trip demands. The role also reviews new and existing trips to ensure physical descriptions and fitness level designations accurately reflect on-the-ground demands. In the Guest Support portions of this role, you’llassist in everything from new bookings to trip transfers and handling customer issues. Youare responsible for ensuring our guests have a world-class interaction with our remote office – both before, during & after their photography trips. These rolesare critical in helping guests understand what they can expect on a trip and supporting informed decisions about participation. It’s challenging, rewarding, and impactful work. As a remote team, we need someone who’s adaptable and able to work independently. Can you educate our guests on photo trip experiences? The schedule is 8am to 4pm Mountain Time.We are flexible with time-off however there will be evening & weekend field-line shifts occasionally where you are on-call.There will be last-minute fires to put out & problems to solve. Core Responsibilities
Review guest health questionnaires and related disclosures with attention to fitness, mobility, and factors relevant to trip participation
Identify potential health or readiness concerns and request clarification when needed
Apply policies and participation criteria consistently while exercising sound judgment
Maintain organized documentation related to health and risk considerations
Contribute to refining screening, readiness, and physicality evaluation processes
Provide unequaled customer service
Connect with guests over phone & email
Collaborate with the operations and leadership teams to support guest preparedness and trip alignment
Book & modify guest reservations
Develop & improve our field operations program
Communicate physical requirements and expectations clearly so guests can make informed decisions
Skills
2+ years experience in the outdoor adventure travel industry
Working knowledge of medical conditions, mobility limitations, medication considerations, and how these may intersect with physical activity, environmental exposure, and remote travel
Outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal) you have a knack for offering constructive feedback, effective delegation, and ensuring everyone on your team is on the same page
Comfortable working independently and handling confidential health information
Familiarity with risk assessment, trip readiness evaluation, or guest screening processes is a plus
Self-starting attitude, ability to manage your own time and start projects and take initiative
Proven problem solver - ability to think ahead and juggle lots of projects without dropping the ball
The ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously — you get things done, meet deadlines and keep promises
Insane attention to detail and high standardsof organizational quality
Positive, flexible, solution oriented, and excited to work with a diverse team
Strong knowledge of photography & understanding of lenses, camera bodies & equipment
Mature, coachable, and happy doing high-level projects as well as mundane design tasks (there will be a mix of both!)
