Jon Kuiper is a wildlife photographer, conservationist, and guide who loves helping people experience wild places through photography. He has spent years guiding in Alaska, from Katmai National Park and Lake Clark National Park to the Bristol Bay region, leading guests on unforgettable trips in the most remote places.
Jon shoots with OM Systems, but is proficient with Nikon, Sony, Fuji, and Canon cameras as well, and enjoys teaching both in the field and in post-processing with Adobe Lightroom. His easygoing style helps photographers of all levels capture memorable images while learning about animal behavior, natural history, and the importance of conservation.
He is a Wilderness First Responder, CPR and First Aid certified, and holds a United States Coast Guard Captain’s License, giving him the ability to safely operate trips in all sorts of environments. Outside of guiding, Jon runs his photography business JWK Images, where he shares his passions for the wild through wildlife prints and calendars featuring bears, moose, foxes, owls, and more from his travels in Alaska, Canada, and across the globe.
