Khem Suthiwan is an avid world traveler and endurance athlete based in Denver, Colorado who is passionate about far off places and the cultures that surround them. Her passion for photography originated with her late father, who was never far from his camera, especially at family gatherings and travels back to her family’s ancestral home of Thailand.
For most of her professional career, Khem spent time working out of an office in various industries and spending her free time photographing her travels and freelancing in the endurance sports industry. Joining Backcountry Journeys was the perfect opportunity to blend her passions of travel and photography, and her hope is to make sure each guest has the best experience possible.
Aside from guiding guests with Backcountry Journeys, you can find Khem on her own epic adventures or shooting photos for a local race event. Some of her travels have included trekking to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, hiking to the summit of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, SCUBA diving in the Maldives, and on safari in the Serengeti. In her photography she seeks to tell the story behind the landscapes and subjects she captures. Her favorite subjects include wild and domestic animals, marine macro life, and historical landmarks.
Her mission is to inspire people of all backgrounds and abilities to explore and learn about the world around them through traveling and photography. She enjoys using the power of social media to take her viewers along on her adventures.
